One Was Nude and One Wore Tails (A one act farce) by Dario Fo
Dario Fo’s farcical comedy centring on two road sweepers.
Drawing on pantomimic 'Commedia-style' performance, the
characters play around with ideas about philosophy, status,
class and 'uniform'; the idea that 'You Are What You Wear'
("naked outside, but clothed within"). As in all Fo's work,
serious ideas about society pigeon-holing its citizens are
explored satirically, with great humour, knockabout slapstick
and vaudeville-style song and dance. Fo doesn't preach or
lecture, but instead uses clowns and buffoons to portray
society's foolish pretensions. A hilarious comedy suitable for
all ages.
